Author Joseph McHale

Joseph McHale lives at Clearwater, Florida. He earned a Master of Criminal Justice degree at the University of Colorado at Denver, Graduate School of Public Affairs. He has a Bachelor in Arts degree magna cum laude in Criminal Justice Administration and an A.A. from Columbia College at Columbia, Missouri. The Columbia class work was done at the Aurora, Colorado campus. He taught at the Arapahoe Community College Police Academy at Aurora, Colorado.

He is a retired Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Austin, Texas. He taught Applied Journalism at the Defense Information School (DINFOS). He was commissioned a police officer, detective and sergeant at Englewood, Colorado. He was commissioned a patrolman at the Lafayette, Colorado, Police Department. He was a Colorado State Certified Peace Officer and Certified Police Academy Instructor.

As a Private Investigator, he worked at Colorado, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Florida, and Georgia. He was licensed in Wisconsin, Georgia and Florida. He was a member of the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado. As an Insurance Fraud Investigator, he worked for PROGRESSIVE, TRAVELERS, CONTINENTAL, CNA, Royal and Sun Alliance, and small regional insurance companies. He was based at Denver, Milwaukee, Chicago, Cleveland, Mission Viejo and Tampa. He taught at countrywide seminars and the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s (NICB) Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Academy. He was a longtime member of the International Association of Special Investigative Units (IASIU). He was a licensed Florida Insurance Claims Examiner.

He is a member of the American Legion at Madeira Beach, Florida. He is a Disabled American Veteran (DAV), a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), and the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA). He is a member of the Air Force Association (AFA) and the Air Force Sergeants’ Association (AFSA). He is a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife, Bette Jane, have four children and nine grandchildren. He was born at Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was raised at Olyphant. He is a 1963 graduate of Blakely High School at Peckville.  He was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 36, Holy Ghost Catholic church, at Olyphant.  Military decorations and awards include the Bronze Star Medal (BSM), the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM), Joint Service Commendation Medal (JSCM), Air Force Commendation Medal (AFCM), Air Force Good Conduct Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters (AFGCM with 3 OLC), Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and 1 Oak Leaf Cluster (AFOUA with V and 1 OLC), and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm (RVN GC w P).
